Tour Terms & Conditions

NZ Distillery Tours | Effective October 2026

NZ Distillery Tours is operated by Gin Lovers Limited. These Terms & Conditions apply to tours and experiences provided by NZ Distillery Tours, including bookings made directly with us and, where applicable, bookings made through travel agents, tour operators or other third parties.

Where a booking is made through a travel agent, tour operator or other third party, additional booking and payment terms may apply.

By making a booking, the person making the booking confirms that they have authority to make the booking on behalf of all guests included in it and agrees to these Terms & Conditions on their behalf.

1. Tour Bookings

Submitting an enquiry does not constitute a confirmed booking.

A booking is confirmed only once NZ Distillery Tours has accepted the booking and the required payment or deposit has been received.

The person making the booking must be at least 18 years old and is responsible for providing accurate information and making the other members of their group aware of these Terms & Conditions.

2. Tour Prices

The price of your tour will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Unless otherwise stated in your confirmed itinerary, the tour price includes the transport, distillery experiences, tastings and food specifically described as being included in your tour.

Additional bottles of spirits, drinks, meals, merchandise and other personal purchases are not included unless specifically stated.

Where a booking is made or paid for through a third-party booking or payment platform, that provider may charge an additional booking, service or processing fee. Any such fee will be shown as part of the booking process where applicable and is separate from the NZ Distillery Tours tour price.

Any refund of a third-party booking, service or processing fee will be subject to the terms of the provider that charged the fee.

3. Group Discounts

For bookings made directly with NZ Distillery Tours, groups of six or more receive a 10% group discount on standard tour pricing, unless otherwise stated for a particular tour, promotion or private arrangement.

Group discounts do not apply to bookings made through travel agents, tour operators or other trade partners, unless specifically agreed by NZ Distillery Tours.

The applicable price and any discount will be confirmed by NZ Distillery Tours when the booking is made.

Discounts cannot be combined with other promotions or offers unless agreed by NZ Distillery Tours.

4. Minimum and Group Numbers

Shared tours require a minimum of four guests to operate.

If a shared tour does not reach the required minimum, NZ Distillery Tours may offer guests an alternative date or arrangement. If NZ Distillery Tours cancels the tour because minimum numbers have not been reached and a suitable alternative is not accepted, the amount paid to NZ Distillery Tours for the cancelled tour will be refunded.

NZ Distillery Tours can accommodate groups larger than 12. Larger groups may be divided into smaller groups and visit different distilleries at different times.

The exact arrangements will be coordinated by NZ Distillery Tours and confirmed as part of the group's itinerary.

5. Payment

For shared tours and private bookings of 12 guests or fewer, full payment is required to confirm the booking.

For private and corporate bookings of 13 or more guests, a 10% non-refundable deposit is required to secure the booking. The remaining balance is due 28 days before the tour date.

If a booking for 13 or more guests is made within 28 days of the tour date, full payment will be required at the time the booking is confirmed.

Bookings made through an approved travel agent, tour operator or trade partner may be subject to separate payment arrangements agreed between NZ Distillery Tours and that partner.

6. Itineraries and Participating Distilleries

New Zealand's distilleries are working businesses and their availability can change.

The distilleries, venues, spirits, tastings, timing and order shown on our website or in promotional material are indicative unless specifically confirmed as part of your booking.

NZ Distillery Tours reserves the right to change the order of a tour or substitute a participating distillery or venue where availability, operational requirements, weather, safety considerations, transport disruption or other circumstances make the original itinerary impractical or unavailable.

Where reasonably possible, we will substitute an experience of a similar nature and standard.

A reasonable itinerary or venue substitution does not automatically entitle a guest to cancel or receive a refund, subject always to your rights under New Zealand law.

For larger groups, guests may be divided into smaller groups and follow different routes or visit participating distilleries in a different order. While individual groups may not visit exactly the same venues at the same time, NZ Distillery Tours will coordinate the experience as one overall group event.

7. Tour Duration and Departure

Standard Auckland tours are approximately 5.5 hours, although actual duration may vary.

Traffic, weather, venue operations and other circumstances outside our control may affect departure, arrival and tour times.

Guests must be ready at the confirmed meeting or pickup location by the advised departure time. Shared tours will depart at the scheduled time and cannot be held for late guests.

Where practical, a late guest may be able to join the tour at a later stop. Any transport required to catch up with the tour must be arranged and paid for by the guest. NZ Distillery Tours cannot guarantee that a late guest will be able to join the tour once it has departed.

A guest who misses all or part of the tour because they arrive late or fail to attend will not be entitled to a refund for the missed portion of the tour, except where required by law.

8. Cancellations: Shared Tours and Private Bookings of 12 or Fewer

Cancellations must be made in writing to NZ Distillery Tours.

More than 7 days before the scheduled departure: 100% of the amount paid will be refunded.

From 72 hours up to and including 7 days before the scheduled departure: 50% of the booking price will be refunded.

Less than 72 hours before the scheduled departure: No refund will be provided.

Cancellation periods are calculated from the scheduled departure time of the tour.

Where a guest is unable to attend due to illness or other personal circumstances, the standard cancellation terms will apply. At our discretion and subject to availability, NZ Distillery Tours may offer a transfer to another tour date. Any transfer offered in these circumstances does not create an entitlement to a refund or future transfer.

9. Cancellations: Private and Corporate Groups of 13 or More

A 10% non-refundable deposit is required to secure a private or corporate booking for 13 or more guests.

More than 28 days before the tour: The 10% deposit will be retained. No further cancellation charge will apply.

From 14 days up to and including 28 days before the tour: 50% of the total booking price is payable.

Less than 14 days before the tour: 100% of the total booking price is payable.

Where NZ Distillery Tours has incurred specific non-refundable third-party costs with the customer's prior approval, those costs may also be recoverable where they exceed the applicable cancellation amount.

10. Changes to Guest Numbers

Please tell us as soon as possible if the number of guests in your booking changes.

An increase in guest numbers is subject to vehicle, venue and distillery capacity and may result in an adjustment to the booking price.

A reduction in guest numbers may be treated as a partial cancellation and the relevant cancellation terms will apply to the guests being removed from the booking.

For larger private and corporate groups, final guest numbers must be confirmed no later than 72 hours before the tour.

Once final numbers have been confirmed, reductions may not result in a refund where NZ Distillery Tours has already committed costs based on the confirmed group size.

A reduction in numbers may also affect eligibility for group discounts or other pricing based on the original group size.

11. Cancellation or Changes by NZ Distillery Tours

NZ Distillery Tours may cancel, postpone or materially change a tour where reasonably necessary due to circumstances including insufficient minimum numbers, venue or distillery availability, vehicle availability, weather, safety concerns, illness or staffing issues, road conditions, government restrictions or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

If NZ Distillery Tours cancels a tour and cannot provide a reasonable alternative, guests will be offered the choice of transferring the amount paid to another available tour date or receiving a refund of the amount paid to NZ Distillery Tours for the cancelled tour.

NZ Distillery Tours is not responsible for independently booked flights, accommodation, transport or other travel arrangements affected by a tour cancellation, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

12. Alcohol, Age and Identification

Guests must be 18 years or older to consume alcohol.

If you look under 30, we strongly recommend bringing an acceptable form of photo identification. Identification may be checked by NZ Distillery Tours, participating distilleries or licensed venues.

If a guest cannot provide acceptable proof of age when requested, they will not be permitted to consume alcohol until acceptable proof of age can be provided. No refund or partial refund will be provided where alcohol service is refused because acceptable identification cannot be produced.

The service of alcohol is always subject to New Zealand law, the conditions of the relevant liquor licence and the host responsibility requirements of each participating venue.

Participation in a tour does not guarantee that a guest will be served a particular quantity of alcohol.

13. Guests Under 18

Guests under 18 may join private tours only, and the booking must include a minimum of four paying adults.

Guests under 18 must be accompanied and appropriately supervised by a responsible adult throughout the tour.

Guests under 18 cannot participate in alcohol tastings or consume alcohol.

Pricing for guests under 18 will be confirmed at the time of booking and may differ from the standard adult tour price.

Please tell NZ Distillery Tours at the time of enquiry if anyone in the group will be under 18 so we can ensure the proposed itinerary is appropriate.

14. Responsible Behaviour and Intoxication

We want everyone to have a fantastic day, but the safety and enjoyment of guests, drivers, distillery staff and other visitors comes first.

Guests who arrive for the tour intoxicated may be refused participation and will not be entitled to a refund.

During the tour, NZ Distillery Tours and participating venues reserve the right to refuse further alcohol service or remove a guest from the tour where the guest is intoxicated, threatening, abusive, unlawful, disruptive or behaving in a way that could compromise their own safety or the safety or enjoyment of others.

A guest refused participation or removed from a tour for these reasons will not be entitled to a refund and will be responsible for arranging and paying for their own onward transport where applicable.

15. Health and Safety

Guests must follow reasonable safety instructions given by NZ Distillery Tours, drivers and participating venues.

Distilleries are working environments and may contain machinery, hot surfaces, uneven ground, stairs, production equipment and other operational hazards.

Please tell us before booking about any accessibility requirements or other circumstances that could affect your ability to participate safely so we can discuss whether the proposed tour is suitable.

Guests remain responsible for deciding whether they are medically and physically able to participate in the tour and consume alcohol.

16. Dietary Requirements and Allergies

Guests should advise NZ Distillery Tours of any dietary requirements, food allergies or intolerances when booking, or as soon as reasonably possible before the tour.

We will pass relevant information to participating venues and make reasonable efforts to accommodate dietary requirements.

However, food is prepared and served by third-party venues and we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or that cross-contamination will not occur.

Guests with severe allergies should discuss their requirements with us before confirming their booking.

17. Transport

Transport included in the tour will be provided by NZ Distillery Tours or an appropriately engaged transport provider.

Guests must comply with reasonable instructions from the driver and wear seatbelts where fitted and required.

Alcohol must not be consumed in any NZ Distillery Tours vehicle or vehicle used to provide tour transport. Any alcohol purchased during the tour must remain unopened while in the vehicle.

Smoking and vaping are also not permitted in tour vehicles.

Guests are responsible for any damage they deliberately or negligently cause to a tour vehicle and may be charged reasonable cleaning or repair costs arising from that damage.

18. Personal Belongings and Purchases

Guests are responsible for their personal belongings throughout the tour.

Any bottles or other purchases made during the tour must be clearly identified with the guest's name and placed in the designated storage area of the tour vehicle when requested by the tour host or driver. Purchases must remain stored until the appropriate time for collection and alcohol must remain unopened while in the vehicle.

Guests are responsible for ensuring they collect their purchases and personal belongings at the end of the tour. NZ Distillery Tours is not responsible for items that are lost, left behind or damaged, except where the loss or damage results from something NZ Distillery Tours is legally responsible for.

19. Third-Party Venues and Providers

NZ Distillery Tours works with independent distilleries, hospitality venues, transport providers and other suppliers.

These businesses remain responsible for the services they provide and for the operation and safety of their own premises.

Guests must comply with reasonable rules and instructions imposed by participating venues and service providers.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits any rights a guest may have against NZ Distillery Tours or a third-party provider under applicable New Zealand law.

20. Consumer Rights and Liability

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986 or other applicable New Zealand law.

To the extent permitted by law, NZ Distillery Tours will not be responsible for loss, costs or expenses arising from events or circumstances outside our reasonable control, including delays or changes caused by traffic, weather, venue closures, supplier availability or other unforeseen circumstances.

These Terms should be interpreted subject to any statutory consumer rights that apply to your booking.

21. Travel Insurance

We recommend that guests travelling from outside Auckland or New Zealand consider appropriate travel insurance covering cancellation, illness, travel disruption and other unforeseen circumstances.

22. Photography

NZ Distillery Tours may take photographs or video during tours for use on our website, social media and other promotional material.

Where guests are clearly identifiable, we will seek verbal permission before taking photographs or video intended for promotional use. Guests are welcome to decline to participate or step out of a photograph, and doing so will not affect their tour experience in any way.

Where verbal permission has been requested and a guest chooses to participate in the photograph or video, their participation will be treated as consent for NZ Distillery Tours to use that photograph or video for these purposes.

Guests may also take their own photographs during the tour, subject to any photography restrictions imposed by participating distilleries or venues.

Some production areas may have photography restrictions for safety, privacy or commercial reasons.

23. Website Information

We take reasonable care to ensure information on the NZ Distillery Tours website is accurate.

Some images used on our website and marketing materials may be illustrative, artist-generated or AI-generated and are intended to represent the style and atmosphere of the NZ Distillery Tours experience rather than a specific tour, venue, vehicle, person or inclusion.

Because distillery availability, products and tour arrangements can change, website content and images should not be taken as a guarantee that a particular distillery, host, spirit or experience will form part of your tour unless specifically confirmed in your booking.

24. Complaints and Problems During Your Tour

If something isn't right during your tour, please tell your NZ Distillery Tours host as soon as possible so we have an opportunity to address the issue.

If the matter cannot be resolved during the tour, please contact us after the tour at joinus@nzdistillerytours.co.nz.

We will review the matter and respond as soon as reasonably practicable.

25. Changes to These Terms

NZ Distillery Tours may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

Unless otherwise required by law or expressly agreed with you, the Terms & Conditions applying when your booking is confirmed will continue to apply to that booking.

26. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.

Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts, subject to any rights a consumer may have under applicable law.
